Question by JK: Are cpa firms open or closed on federal holidays?
My boss says that no CPA firms close for federal holidays from Jan 1 to April 14. Is this true?
I am not a CPA, but rather a clerk.
The accountants are busy, but the phone is dead, no mail to process, and I am sitting here resentful that I had to pay for a babysitter because school is out.

Since they are private entities, it is entirely up to each individual office. Federal holidays affect Federal employees. Tax time is a busy time for CPAs, ours works 6 to 7 days a week during that same time frame.
